dude got a gpu upgrade wtf

    Richard Pinter

I was quite lucky so far, 99% of parts arrived safe. My 5800x arrived in a very deformed box but no bent pins or anything, works as it should.

    Dude McGuybro

I got a computer and it had a dent near the rear fan I didn’t notice. Like it was dropped lol. I plugged it in and green and pink artifacts all over the screen… huh… then I took a closer look and… oh… man…

    HexorDab

I’m having a either huge problem or minor problem with my pc. I’ve sent it to repair and had them to find out the issues. They told me it’s GPU faulty then I bought a new GPU(Asus RTX 3060) and yet the problem is still there. Went back again and they told me it’s the PSU so I get a better PSU. Now whenever I played for approx 2 hours and the whole pc became very spike and the GPU usage dropped to 20+% from 98%. Please help I don’t know what to do anymore. I tried to reset the whole pc but now the pc keep restarting itself repeatedly at installing window at 64% then shut down completely. I NEED DESPERATE HELP. Been to the pc repair shop for 3 times and I’m tired to go there everyday and they can’t even fix the issues. Help Linus or anyone that is kind and knowledgeable about what I’m facing 😢

“I expect my death to be monetized if we catch it on camera” – such a noble sacrifice from our CEO

    Sporadic Benevolence

@Edward Little Definitely sponsored by DBrand, ‘wide Linus’ skinned coffin, offer code ‘deadlinus’

    rln

I’m more of a “Some of you may die, but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make” kind of guy.

    Pl4sm4Ro4ch

with the sponsor being dbrand… put a twist on your casket with a dbrand quality skin. Shine on your afterlife with the new ltt orange and white pearlescent color scheme.

    ArtistaFrustrado – KFP Lurk Shift

@Pl4sm4Ro4ch nah a DBrand Linus coffin would be colored Pink with green racing strips like the Lambo, and/or Sad Linus

    Shepherd’s Gaming Run

I’m pretty sure dbrand will sponsor it.

XDRosenheim

As a PostNord employee, I can say that this could have happen at at least nine places in my terminal alone.

    mugogrog

@XDRosenheim yup, it’s sad to see. I have no idea why they did it either because the form it had before worked just fine.

They took one entity that was making a slow but steady profit and merged it with one that was slowly and steadily getting deeper into debt and somehow figured it would be beneficial to both.

    Ben Vernon

This is forklift damage, all day long. Those things might be small, but they weigh over 3 and a half TONNES… So even if you lightly bump into a pallet, this kind of damage can happen. Also the hydraulics on forklifts are very powerful. So hypothetically, 2 things could’ve happened. Either it was run in to when it was sitting proud on a pallet, or when the pallet was picked up and the forks tilted backwards (standard procedure) and the PC was crushed against the pallet or something else heavy.

    Eva

@polar vortex ngl now you mention it, that’s actually exactly what it looks like.

    boneitch

But how? I’ve thrown an old pc, without packaging, from a bit of height, and it still did not look anything like that :O

Snake

huge props to the delivery guy who survived an car accident and still managed to get it to the customer

    TAP7a

Seemed to take a detour through Ukraine and still got it to the doorstep

    backslashio

    Car accident with a tank

    GlobalWarning

@Kim Andre Hennum to me that sounds so weird. everything I’ve gotten from postnord has been fine. a friend of mine works or used to work for/with postnord and for what I’ve seen, he at least handled the packages nice and carefull.

    Tho 66

Thats called loving the job you doing 🤣🤣🤣

    MTKN7

    Unbelievable 🤣

JCL Bosler

I can’t even begin to imagine what kind of natural disaster occurred to mangle a PC like that. If the delivery man is still walking that’d be a miracle.

    MarcoP

You just have to drop the box from a decent height, say 1 meter or more at a weird angle. The inertia of all the large parts inside (PSU, Video Card, Hard drives, Radiator, etc) will pull the case in different directions, and the metal is thin, so it acts like a cheap deformable spring system. I worked computer wholesales 25 years ago so we shipped a LOT of prebuilt PC’s to stores so I saw a lot of ones come back as well. Video cards in 2023 are also MASSIVE compared to those older ones, and add a horrible stress point as they are not really anchored to anything unless you do some fancy stuff.

    mugogrog

A natural disaster called PostNord happened to it.

    Xirpzy

Supply drop from plane directly onto your doorstep. What more do you want?

    Kittsuera

My bet is it fell off a top shelf or stack during shipping and saw the minor package damage as inconsequential. Like it looks like it fell at a diagonal and may something else landed on top of it. A sharp turn at speed could have done it

    Hello There

The driver was not folklift certified

David Cooley

This is one the the funniest LTT videos I’ve ever seen and from the looks of it the crew had a blast filming it too lol. But it does make you wonder what on God’s green earth happen to this poor pc considering they found the Antikythera mechanism in better shape after being buried for a cool 2000 years

    Tridiots

well, to be fair, the thing was buried, not subject to shipping.

    James Firth

@Tridiots It was underwater in a shipwreck. But to be fair it was covered in concretion which is a much sturdier “packing system” than a cardboard box.

Greg Salazar

So cool that you guys got ahold of this thing! I remember seeing it on Twitter and cringing for a solid 30 seconds…

    kung_av_sverige tiktok kungen av edsbyn

While since i seen your video with craigslists pc

Jess

I worked on the repair team for a smaller systems integrator for a while and saw my fair share of shipping damage. This gave me flashbacks… So shocked that glass panel survived with how mangled everything else was. And loved the reaction to the alphacool rgb connector lol.

Victor Vieira

This is by far the best editing job an LTT video has ever had, please keep up with it LoL

Leroy

This has a real scrapyard wars vibe going on. Thanks LTT for helping a guy out. I’ve seen some real shipping issues this top 3

Nicholas Lynch

Sad to hear the motherboard and GPU had to be replaced after further testing, a video trying to properly fix some of those components would be really cool

    Andrea

Don’t worry, they are in the hands of Linus. He will make sure to make the most out of them, such as using for test benches or whatever he can come up with. At least they won’t instantly become e-waste!

    Honey Badger

I mean realistically there’s no way parts can go through that much abuse and not have their life expectancy significantly shortened.

gris186

PostNord is the only company that notoriously:
– Lose my parcels (4 this year so far)
– Say I wasn’t home at delivery (my camera says they were never there)
– Delivers the package to the wrong post office
– Delivers a parcel that someone did their best to destroy (I once received a bed that a forklift had ploughed through to lift the package)

    AzTekDk

    Certified PostNord moment

    andrewszombie 💙💛

I live in Australia and my mail company sent one of my parcels to Tasmania despite me living on the mainland 😂

    mackan072

@YouTube spy I’ve worked as a courier at PostNord, and where I worked things such as this were fairly uncommon. Sure, some parcels do take damage – but it’s typically due to *incredibly* poor packaging, by the sender. Or by packages being shipped from far abroad, being mishandled prior in the delivery chain, and that the (usually cheap) packing material simply takes damage over time, until the packaging material suddenly structurally fails.

With that said though, you typically have the same driver on the same route every day. If you experience a lot of issues, then that could be due to the driver not taking his job seriously. If that’s the case, then simply file complaints to PostNord. Sloppy drivers are dealt with.

    Gooish

my student club had them lose half a shipment of overalls for a week, right when our new members were supposed to get theirs. we got half the shipment like a week before. and then when they did deliver them, they delivered them to the wrong address.

    Romain Savioz

@Bleep Blop not them using the service and you don’t necessarily can’t choose the delivery option

fix298

For most the video I was quite worried that you folks would just ship it out after 2 minutes of stress testing but I’m glad to see I was wrong! Thanks for doing an amazing thing for your fan!

Shark Gaming Systems

Thanks for having us on the Show Linus – We whould have loved it to be under better circumstances, but since we’re here, we want to elaborate on a few things :

– It seems you have received the PC without the original extra layer of protection we ship all PC’s with. In the outer package, we wrap the PC in inflated air bags, which is a vital part of the transport protection.
– The customer was of course offered a full refund/new computer as soon as he contacted us originally.
– We’ve built custom PC’s for 13 years – this is by far the most extenstive damage we’ve seen, and we’re gonna try to reproduce it, to find out what it actually takes to inflict this kind of damage.
– PostNord reached out to us today after having watched the video with a formal apology – they take full responsibility for the damage, so thanks ^^

A very busy SoMe manager at SharkGaming today

Kudos to actually getting the PC to work

    O F

    @LinusTechTips – pin this please.

    Trickzit

what a joke… Sharkgaming… I’ve bought several pc components and even a whole pc from your firm, even my girlfriend bought a pc from your company too and this is just how you treat people. Both our pc’s was completely broken inside out and some of the hardwares you put into your pc’s is old and used. Even the cases was bend over like u guys had stomped on it and when people try to contact you, you guys doesnt take any responsibility at all and shut down our phonecalls.

I would’nt suggest anyone buying pc’s or any hardwares from this firm at all. Just stay away….

    Ben Nezerol

Considering the way this is wrangled I’d say both horizontal and vertical pressure have been applied on the case at the same time from angles that were not just 45 degrees from each other. If this is a common treatment by PostNord, you might need to improve the packaging with more and tougher styrofoam either way. Those bags will just get crushed by whatever caused this kind of impact.

    Catch_022

@Superznova Thanks for replying – do you mean you kept the PC in its state and didn’t get a refund, but instead sent it to LTT (obviously you got a cool PC at the end of the vid) or something else? Sorry for the questions but this is very interesting, glad you got a good result from what must have been a terrible experience at first.

    Superznova

@Catch_022 Yes that is correct, I ended up purchasing the PC anyway so I could do whatever I wanted with it after some careful consideration regarding my options. I did however notify Shark Gaming customer service before I shipped it away (2nd call) to make them aware of my intentions and also to make sure the RMA case that was still open could be closed from their side

Frank L

For people who didn’t check the description, these are the components they ended up switching:
Motherboard: MSI B550 GEN3 -> ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus
GPU: ASRock AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT -> Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT
PSU: FSP Hydro K Pro 850W -> ASUS ROG Strix 850W White
SSD (NVMe): Kingston NV2 1TB -> Sabrent Rocket NVME 2TB
And added a NZXT Kraken X53 240 RGB AIO Liquid Cooler

Cron R

honestly props to NZXT for being able to manufacture a case that will take that kind of impact and p reserve the internals

Linus dropping an already broken computer is freaking hilarious 😂
