It looks like one of those rubber poppers that you would get for a low number of tickets at the arcade.

    Mr. Ben

Also does controllers require covers like these? I mean yea the joystick is gonna move a bit but aren’t they built for that?

    Rew

@Mr. Ben if you don’t have a case for gamepads or steam deck etc, it will help preventing overstressing if it gets caught on something and possible break/drift

    Mr. Ben

@Rew but steam deck/Nintendo switch already comes with a carry-on case 🤔 idk it seems a bit cash grabby to me specially if its $15 for 2 piece of plastic. You could get a whole case instead for that price

    Oliver Saer

@Mr. Ben The Nintendo Switch does not come with an included carrying case, but Nintendo does sell a first-party one. It’s also $14.99 for 4 units, not 2.

Using a carry case adds more bulk, but I think it’s more designed with the intent of protecting gamepads, where it’s less common to own a carry case.

The pricing is higher than you would find for a similar product from some no-name Chinese company because LTT don’t operate on anywhere near the same scale. Therefore, they can’t eat their margins as much as these companies can.

On the WAN show Linus actually mentioned that the popping action was an original bug of the product, but they fixed that behavior.

Cool idea, would be nice to see a integrated storage solution for them, even just a loop to attach a string to them

    The Official Channel

Yeah i had an Idea for something that could be stored for later on a keychain thing it was like a slide out Spork or Collapsable shot glass

    Mr. Ben

Oh you guys are being serious

    PantsAreAnOption

just get 2mm drill and poke a little hole through one of the 4 “corners” and put some string through. 2 minutes of work, or less.

    Falckiee

I don’t think carrying your console by the stick is good

Richard Greer

this honestly looks like the type of thing that you find in the “only sold on tv” section of the checkout lane at a kmart or something.

@Mancunian Manxman I destroyed one of the shoulder buttons on my GBA SP from having it in my pocket too much while sitting. People underestimate how much they wear down and damage portable electronics with moving parts.

    Mancunian Manxman

@John Anthony Kazos Jr. Spending $15 on these, when you could buy a cheap case for the same, or a great one for less than double is my point.

This is more or less the direction of this channel these days.

Lame as hecc

Yeeeeeeeeeah, those seem like they’d hold the stick juuust enough that you’d get drift anyways…

RAHelllord

Finally subs can have their other joysticks put under lock and key.

    Stop 😂

    That’s what I’m saying!

Now they just need a distribution center in the EU, to keep the cost closer to the price.

    Lander

What is “saved” in shipping costs to EU would be spent on salaries, rent and taxes for the EU based location, absolutely not worth it for the size of operation.

    Varangian af Scaniae

@Lander You are thinking wrong, it’s not so LTT saves money. It’s so their products become affordable to Europeans.
I thought about buying the LTT screwdriver. €128 with shipping, taxes, import fees and so on. For a screwdriver!?! Ehh just no!

    Arokh Bluebird

@Varangian af Scaniae But that is exactly what @lander3911 was saying. You are saving 20€ on shipping, but since LTT has to open and staff a new facility the product you are buying now just costs 15-20€ more to buy.

So you are basically not saving anything.

    Petch85

@Varangian af Scaniae the shipping cost is not that relevant. Where I live there is a sales tax of 25%. (Not a problem). For a privat person it is not possible to pay this tax without a middle company, and that cost about 25$ per shipment. This is not a problem for expensive products or if you import a lot at a time. Thus if LTT imports the products and pay the tax the cheep products gets way cheeper.

    treborrrrr

@Arokh Bluebird They don’t have to open a brand new facility. There are services for this kind of thing. Yes, that still costs money, but a hell of a lot less than getting a location, building, people and training for said people.

Arrival

This would probably be great for the competitive console gaming scene, I see lots of pro gamers shoving equipment into backpacks over and over at LANs and I’m sure they’d love this sort of thing to keep their sticks fresh and stave away stick drift a bit longer.

Dkizzle16

Ooh this is a cool idea. Time to fire up the 3d printer and go brrrr with some TPU

PaulSD

The last time LTT said he was really excited to show something to us, the laptop was full of cheese
